Generosity - does motive matter?

Following is a link to an article on Copyblogger.com regarding being successful in both online & offline businesses. While I'm a big advocate of generosity, I think motives are also important. Greed can still be a factor in 'generosity' if you're only doing it to 'get something'; more customers, more revenue, etc. Pure generosity comes when you genuinely want to give, not caring if you get anything in return.
