Generosity - does motive matter?

Following is a link to an article on Copyblogger.com regarding being successful in both online & offline businesses. While I'm a big advocate of generosity, I think motives are also important. Greed can still be a factor in 'generosity' if you're only doing it to 'get something'; more customers, more revenue, etc. Pure generosity comes when you genuinely want to give, not caring if you get anything in return.

Those of you that may not understand alexa, the rating of 1 means it is the busiest website in the world. If you go to alexa.com and type in google.com you will see it is 1, and yahoo.com is 2.

There are 130 MILLION websites.

So an alexa rating of 17,519 over the last week, means, on average, over the last week, there were only 17,518 websites with more traffic than orange leads in the entire world.

Freedom from the 9 to 5

For some people, enjoying freedom also entails being your own boss. Being able to set your own hours, not having to fight traffic to start work, etc. However, working from home is not for everyone, not everyone would be considered qualified. You must have a high level of commitment, a strong desire to work from home, & a strong motivating factor, the "why" behind the "what" (the "what" being working at home). The motivation, or the "why", has to be strong enough to make it through the challenging times. Working from home will also have some challenging days, just like an outside job. However, if you're motivated enough to work at home & be successful at it, the challenging days are well worth it.

Independence

Independence is freedom in action. However, consider the following analogy - a violin string, when totally "independent" of the violin for which it was created, is "free" to twist and turn but not to do what a violin string is designed to do: produce music. By the same token, you are "free" when your life is uncommitted - but not free to be what God - the God Who created you - intended you to be. Real freedom is not freedom FROM God, but freedom WITH God through the salvation which is in Jesus Christ.

I have discerned by trial and error that the more conscious I am of God's presence, the more I feel like being myself. The less conscious I am of His presence, the more I feel the need to prove myself. But the more I am myself, the greater my liberty. This is because I am affirming God, who made me as I am. When I move outside my anointing, I am trespassing. When I try to mimic somebody else, I am stealing another's anointing, and it always backfires on me.

The funny thing is, when I try to imitate someone else I never capture their real genius but their eccentricity. It is a fact that what is most easily copied in any man or woman is their odd manner or even their weakness.

God made each of us as we are. He chose our parents before we were born, chose our environment, our childhood peers and shaped our interests—not to mention determining our IQ! When we come to terms with our limitations, we gain not only peace but also productivity in the end.

Accepting our limitations is essential to accepting our anointing. Perhaps God will not use us as long as we have unrealistic aspirations of ourselves. I was not being true to myself or the way God made me by entertaining such lofty notions. I was only wanting to make my peers envious by my accomplishments. It is best to accept our limitations and stop pretending. And God will begin to use us.
